Requirements

Hold a PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized diving organization.

Complete a Diver Medical form to confirm fitness for diving.

Be at least 12 years old (Junior Advanced Open Water certification for ages 12–14).

Course schedule
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect, step by step:
1. Knowledge Development
Begin with self-study or instructor-led sessions on advanced dive theory. Topics include underwater navigation, deep diving, and additional specialty dive subjects of your choice, such as wreck diving or underwater photography.
3. Three Additional Adventure Dives
Select three additional adventure dives based on your interests and location. Examples include Night Diving, Drift Diving, or Peak Performance Buoyancy. Each dive offers new challenges and experiences.
2. First Two Adventure Dives
Participate in your first two adventure dives, including Deep Dive (up to 30 meters) and Underwater Navigation. These dives introduce you to core skills required for advanced diving scenarios.
4. Certification and Next Steps
Complete all five adventure dives to earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. This certification allows you to dive up to 30 meters and serves as a stepping stone for more advanced courses and specialty certifications. Your instructor will provide feedback and tips for further improving your skills.
